Bangs.

After that last post on Wednesday, Will made his famous Mexi-Burgers for us and Michael and Ellen and Andrew and Fran and Rosalie. Bacon was on sale, so we bought it all. Also cheese. Lots...of cheese. We made sangria and chilled outside until it was time to head to Bassdrive. I hadn't realized it had moved to a place call Belmont on St-Laurent and Mont Royal, just a few blocks from where I lived last year, which is pretty rad except that when we ran into Alix a few days ago, I told her to come to Koï. My bad... Anyway, upon arriving at Belmont, I came to the realization that dubstep in Montréal had finally reached the point at which Sub.mission's been sitting for nearly two years. Over-crowded venue, mostly with bros and drunk high schoolers... We're predicting that DnB will make an ardent comeback here shortly. We'll see. Anyway, despite the change in the Bassdrive scene, it was great seeing Jenny spin again. Kyle played the most refreshing set I've seen in years. Down-tempo, jazzy at times, with smooth hip hop vocals, and heeeeeeavy on the bass. Mr. Yipes killed it! Knight Riderz came on after, but we headed home around then.

Yesterday morning, Fran and I went to Gare Centrale to see Will off before his day-long train ride home. He came pretty close to missing his train due to a completely nonsensical queue arrangement courtesy of Amtrak. Buuuuut he made it, and arrived in Philadelphia 14 hours later. What a long ride, holy crap. Once Will left, Fran and I walked back to the house, then sat at Parc LaFontaine for a while. We went to La Banquise (Fran had never been before omgwtfbbq?!???!!!?) for lunch, then met up with Mike and Ellen back at LaFontaine. We did some emailing ("everybody's EMAILING" -Jeff Goldlblum) aaaaaaand then went home, where Fran gave me an introductory tutorial on Traktor, and how to use an APC-20 instead of the keyboard. I fell asleep early.

And now I'm here!

My head is completely consumed with the millions of things I have to accomplish between August 8th and September 1st that I'm having a hard time relaxing while I'm still here in Montréal. I'm having fun still of course, but I'm hopelessly anxious. I can't sit still.

A side note: I am so lucky to be have such loving and supportive people in my life. I can't imagine where I'd be without you.
